PSE 360: Pulp & Paper Unit Processes II:
Application of chemical engineering principles to the analysis of pulp and paper unit processes. Emphasis on practical problems in fluid dynamics, transfer processes, and thermodynamics.

PSE 371: Pulping Process Analysis:
This is primarily a laboratory course focusing on pulping unit operations. Students will be expected to understand the variables that effect these unit operations and the calculations necessary to optimize their operations. Contents include: preparation and testing of pulping and bleaching liquor, wood analysis and preparation, pulping by various processes, analysis of pulp, bleaching, wood fiber identification, environmental methods and recycling. Principal pulping and bleaching variables are evaluated critically. Students are organized into groups for pilot plant operation, and are encouraged to allocate time as necessary for experimental work.
